Midnight Sun's Prince Caspian
2004 Gypsy Vanner Colt
Prince Caspian is a stunning black and white
Gypsy Vanner colt. He is growing up rapidly,
and is already full of feathers and will have a
thick mane and tail. We expect him to mature
over 14.1hh.
Both his eyes are crystal blue,
and he has very unique and interesting markings.
He is super smart and is extremely fast to learn
anything we have asked of him.
Caspian has
already gone on several trailer rides since he
was a month old, and is a real trooper at it.
He also leads willingly
and has had several hoof trims.
He
has very flashy and smooth looking gaits,
and is
a great driving and riding prospect.
Caspian is
registered in the Gypsy Cob and Drum Horse
Association and the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society (pending).
He is also able to be registered in the Irish
Cob Society. Caspian was sold to a woman in
Cheney, WA in July 2006. Congratulations Suzanne!

Ellie
1989 Miniature Mare
Ellie was our 34" pinto Miniature Mare. She's Lyric's dam, and
also had Lyric's full brother, Leroy at her side when we bought her and Joe.
Leroy has now been sold. Ellie was a bit stand-offish and shy when she first
came to us, but she got much friendlier during her stay with us. Ellie
was sold to a girl from Chewelah, WA in June 2006! Congratulations Madeline!

Leroy
2005 Miniature Colt
Leroy
came along with his mother and father as a family package. He is full
brother to Lyric, our 3 year old Miniature filly. He is colored like his
sire, a very pale palomino pinto. He will likely be more around Joe's
height, 33". Leroy was sold in February 2006 to a couple from Colbert,
Washington.

On October 28th, 2003, we
discovered 4 miniature horses who were being starved. We rescued them, and
brought them home to live with us for the winter. While they were with us,
we fed them properly, wormed them, had their feet trimmed, took their halters
off and gave them as much attention as we could. We rescued them with the
hope of selling them to homes who would love them and care for them properly,
and we have done that. First to go were Sadie & Hawkeye in early May
2004 to
Kyanna's best friend Katie. Then were JJ & Shadow to a nice family in late
May 2004. It was great to be able to help these little horses find more
suitable homes. The photos above the descriptions is from right after being
rescued, the one after is after a little while in our care, where they show
improvement. They have all now shed out beautifully and properly.

Sadie
1994 mare
Sadie was the leader of the herd. She is a sweet
dark bay pinto, a bit on the tall side at 40". When we
rescued her, you could see every bone in her spine, and count her ribs.
Her hip bones stuck out so severely that they looked like a
T-Bone when viewed from above. Her halter was so small for her
that it had deformed her head while it was on her for over a year. She was
used as a show horse prior to her previous un-savvy owners. We do
not know how many foals she has had, but we do know of at least
one, Shadow. Sadie is a fairly shy, calm horse,
and is currently being taught to ground drive and pull a cart with
Kyanna's friend, Katie.

Shadow
1999 stallion
Shadow is a cute little dark brown appaloosa
colored stud. He has an abundant mane, and the sweetest head
when all shed out, though when we first got him, we
couldn't tell because of the halter marks etched into his small
head. While here, Shadow was a little gentleman, being a
bit skeptical like his mother, Sadie, but also
curious. He was sold to a home along with JJ, and has become
the pet of a few lucky girls. Last we heard, he was
being ridden by the smallest of them.

JJ
1998 stallion
JJ has a bit of a sad story to him. About a
year before we rescued him, his previous owners had staked him
out to graze on their lawn, tied to a piece of Rebar.
While they were not looking, he jabbed his eye on the Rebar,
and they said they walked out to find him standing there
with his
right eye out of the socket. They did not
call a vet, but cut the cord and only applied some peroxide to prevent
infection. From what it sounded like, a vet could have put
the eye back in, or at least stitched the eye shut to
further prevent infection and make a clean job of it. But
having only one eye doesn't slow down JJ at all. His
remaining eye is very unique, being a blue color with swirls of green and brown.
JJ went to a great home with his buddy, Shadow, and is doing
very well.

Hawkeye
1996 gelding
Hawkeye is another of the taller Miniatures, at
around 40". He is jet black when all shed out, with not a speck
of white markings. Hawkeye is very comical and curious. Most of
the time he is pretty easygoing. He seemed to have the most
deformity caused by the halter though, when we first rescued him. Not just
with disfigurement of his hair, but the bone structure as well.
His neck and back were also so sunken and wasted away that we could
barely believe it. But now Hawkeye is fat and happy, and
even won a Special Award ribbon at the fair last fall, along with
Sadie. He is currently being trained to ground drive and pull a cart.
